A Photographic
Tour of Germany
When I began writing, my family was living in Germany. We
lived there while my first four books were published and put
into stores. Readers wrote to ask about Germany, so I put
up these pages to share some of the wonderful things we encountered
here.
For the first year, every time
I looked around, I thought, “That looks like a postcard!”
Now I don’t notice anymore, but preparing these pages
made me see it again. There is so much beauty there. I miss
it very much.

some aspects of Germany I find interesting:

NICE THINGS ABOUT LIVING HERE
My daughters would say
that these photographs show very little of real German life.
If the pictures on my pages look like a tourist’s souvenirs,
that is because I was only an outsider there. But my daughters
were not: they knew what it felt like to be a real German
teen. Here is a photograph of them when their
closest friends in the world were all Germans.
